We are officially on holiday!

The clock is closing in on 11 pm and I am in the office looking at stuff for the last time. Checking I've got all the things I want with me. Tomorrow me and Lea are going to leave England and cross waters. Me, to Sweden, and Lea, to France. I'm looking forward to see my family and friends, but at the same time I'm going to miss all the people over here. Luisa and all her kindness. Sam, better boss is harder to find and his lovely family and their hospitality. Terry and Gill who are a big support and keeping some of our(mine and Lea's) stuff safe during August. In september me and Lea are coming back for another year. We didn't had enough of Act 4 and Sam! We love our work and wanted to stay longer. But, the one who we are going to miss the most is Joe. We are going to see the others when we come back to England, but Joe isn't going to be here. So at the same time as we are excited for our friends and family, we are aching of split feelings to say goodbye to our loved boy. I think I am going to miss that guy's humour the most. He can make us laugh even if you don't want to.

Now it's 11 pm and I will stop working.
Now Act 4 is going on HOLIDAAAAAY!!!!!!!

Have a nice holiday!

new stuff and CD

Sitting in the top office. Rest of the office is quiet and empty. Everybody else is setting up our equipment in the hall. The church requested that we move all the things that are on the floor, and that includes monitors, speakers, lights and loads of wires. I hope they are alright out there. I am burning a couple of ex of our new CD. It's a Promo and the tracks are developed especially for Holiday Club 2010. It has 3 new written songs, 1 rewritten and a fresh new reflection on it. It sounds really good! I've written the music to all of them except one and I am really proud to have achieved this. I've done something new all by myself and it is a great feeling. All it takes is that somebody believes in you, like Sam did in me, and you can do what you want.

We are in our 3rd day of Holiday Club 2010.
Now I have to go to attend the leaders meeting, so we can let the kids in after that.

Linnea (going home to Sweden in 4 days!!!!)

2 weeks left

The sun is out. The birds are singing... the life in Potters Bar seems quiet and peaceful. But when you take a look inside URC on Darkes Lane, you will find a devoted team that tries their hardest to make everything work for the last time. We've written new songs, we've done loads of new fun videos and props. Holiday Club that Act 4's going to put up this year is going to be awesome!

Even though we have loads of work to do, we are (the three of us volunteers) thinking of our last time here. Trying to make it as fun as possible. Me and Lea are leaving in exactly two weeks and Joe is leaving a day after that.

So long for now.

working at act 4 (guest writer)

Hi my name is Ashley, I am doing work experience with act 4. Working with Act 4 is fun, all the work they give me I finish really quickly. Most of it is easy to do, but i have been given work that was quite hard for me to do. I was told to do a rap, that was hard, because I have never done anything like it. The people here are great! If I need any help with something, they're always happy to help.

The End, Ashley

Summer Is totally here!

I am so sorry for all our readers who have been checking every now and then if we've written anything. I do apologize. The crazyness at the office has been mixed. We can gladly tell you we've been doing our second Star Citizen Show at Essendon school yesterday, and that we still haven't recovered from the long day. What's different this year to last year, is that we combine the show with sessions for the different years of the school. This is really exciting cause we can do the show, and then directly get feedback from the kids. It's pretty nice to have that contact. Especially when they've seen us every now and then doing assemblies, they can talk to us as we're their teachers for an hour.

It's been a very hot week and we spent yesterday sweating all the time. Now I'm going out to enjoy the sun.

Ciao! from the office.

Busy Busy

Sitting in the office and going through my list of tasks, and I remembered that it was a while since I wrote on the blog. I am so sorry about this, but we've been on holiday and round Easter we were pretty busy at the office. We were preparing for Dales Down, a camp for autistic children and their families. It was a lot of fun and we really felt that what we were doing were meaningful to them, not only the children, but also the rest of the family. I hope you, who read this blog, haven't given up on me. I will start write more often again.

Lots of Love, Linnea

the spring's here!!!

Such a lovely day!!! It's wonderful and I wore my sunglasses, for the first time of the year, today. We know that the spring has been coming but now it's finally here. How we've been waiting for this day! It's the first day were you could actually go outside without your coat. With mixed feelings I got up this morning, Monday mornings are always worst when it comes to school and work, I'm glad it was such a sunny day, otherwise I might have stayed in bed.

I just want to write to you that I love my job, and maybe even my life, just because of the weather. Hm... When I think of it, it sounds strange. But maybe that's why we talk so much about the weather, cause it affects us so much. Maybe it even changes entire lives.

awsome!

Now we've had our first week with the new assembly. It have been going really well and we're so enjoying it. I'm doing more in front of the screen than ever, and it feels good! In the intro part I'm playing a sneering singer diva and in the drama I play a hysterical producer for a talk show. Love it! Lea also does a dance to my music and Sam's voice over for the reflection, and today the kids clapped for her after it. I think all of us are loving this assembly.

I stayed at work last night and worked really hard on the website, so soon you'll see the changes on the website Act 4.

Thank you all of you who reads this blog and for your support!

back to work...

...and back in town. Last night Joe and Lea picked me up at the airport of Stansted and because my flight was delayed, a bit more than a hour, so now the three of us are a bit tired. I've just finnished the music for a reflection that Lea is going to dance to in the new assembly. The new one's theme is easter, probably the Chritian's most important time of the year.

Overall it seems like we all had a nice half term and now it's time to work again. Sam just arrived, back to duty.

traveling all the time

The feeling in the office is relaxed and pleasent. Lea is now playing "I Still Haven't Found What I'm Looking For" by U2 and I just enjoy the familiar tune when I send away an email to Sam saying: Done! Linnea. It feels completely wonderful to know that half term is so close, because tomorrow, Lea and I, are going to Sweden! Wiieeeee! I'm going home! It feels so wierd and wonderful at the same time, and I'm really excited. Just hope I dont wind up myself to much.
I came home yesterday from Wall-under-haywood, Shropshire, the Frankel's new place. Lovely nature, green hills and a lot of sheeps. We had our two first assemblies in Shropshire, me and Sam. In the first the projector broke down and ruined the assembly. The second was on tuesday afternoon and the weather was lovely, the birds sang nice melodies and the assembly went great! I also went and saw a play in Shrewsbury, Pride And Prejudice by Jane Austen. Really cool! So tomorrow, tomorrow it's time to go away again, and I just have enough time to do the laundry. Oh! You know what! I accidently put my black load of laundry on 60 degrees of C. Oops! But...whatever, that just makes it easier to fit everything in one bag.

Have a nice halfterm!

a new adventure

I'm sitting in the office and we've just been handed the new assembly. We've read through it and now every one of us is sitting with our new assignement. Except me, then. My job, normally is to work with the music and soundtracks for the assemblies, but I see my self finding it hard to work as usual. Off course this has a reason. Sam was here. Yesterday, actually, and tomorrow I'll be following his example and move up to Shropshire (an other part of England, close to Wales) for a while. Just a few days, but more or less he took a lot of equipment and things with him. So now I'm sitting at Lea's PC instead of my dear, dear miniMac. He took the keyboard, the interface, computer, wires, microphones, everything! So I find it a bit hard to work on music right now.

Alright. I'm going up to Shropshire to do three things, I think. First of all, I'm doing two assemblies in two completely new schools for us, they've never had an assembly from us before, so it has to be awsome. Secondly, I'll work with Sam on new things and a lot of music-related stuff. And third and finally, I think I'm going to babysit a bit. Which I don't mind cause it's lovely kids the Frankel juniors. Sam just called, the mission now is to find a cable, so over and out.

Hear ya!

some thought

So! Three assemblies done and another one tomorrow, the last one before going on TFG's "BIG" conference. For you who don't know what that is, it's a big, evidently, conference with all the TFG volunteers in the UK. We're going to meet people from all around the world, and everybody in the same situation. We've all committed to do one year in service, and I can say that you can have a lot of fun doing this.

Other news is that I might go up north for with Sam for a while, so I'm teaching Lea how to use the sound equipment and then I thought, I need to not forget that even though things seems easy to me, it's not always like that for others.

I watched a program on Internet in Swedish the other day, and it was about these three girls and a famous female comedian plays God. Two of the girls fought because they thought that the other one had a better life. So "God" put them in each other's body and they had to live the other's life. The point was that you shouldn't think that you know everything about an other person, and when they switched they realized that the other one's life wasn't that great all the time. They got insight of the other's life!

I been thinking about this a lot since I saw it. I don't want to forget that there is so many elements in a persons life that makes the person. There's culture, traumas, happy parts, different ways of growing up, studies, work, friends... All these things make an impact on our lives. Don't forget that we have had different lives, but if we try to understand the past, or why a person behave like it does, it can make a nice future.

Peace

New year, new year and new assembly

We started working yesterday and worked until about 7. Felt really pumped with energy after the break and my mood was amazingly good. I had the feeling of that everything annoying in my life were going to be different. So when Sam gave me a new challenge I absolutely didn't see it as something tricky, I felt really excited with this new adventure.

One of the worn out quotes I herd somewhere along the preparation for my volunteer year was: It's not bad, it's different.

Now I've done my part of this soundtrack for the new drama, now it's up to Joe to fit it into the video. Lea is working on some sign that's going to say: Eden Safaris A Once In A Lifetime Opportunity. Then it changes to: Eden Safaris A Shared Opportunity. Take a moment to think about this and hope that this encourage you. And....Take care of Mother Earth will you?

That's all folks!
